dealership told me £700 for parts (a new module as well as key, as no way to programme third key for any one module)

Is that true, has anyone got three keys for their 2010/12 car without having to pay for a new module ?

Also can my GAP IID program the third key, as I would like to have an extra key to give to my brother at work !

I purchased a 21MY key (see other FFRR thread) and programmed to my 2010 with GAP tool. I only had 1 original key. Vehicle/GAP says there are 3 keys programmed to my car now. It’s on my to do list to see if I can delete the key that I don’t actually possess- but am happy to leave that can of worms for now. 2010 Supercharged

That's good to know. My car only came with one key and I now have an new OEM "fat" key arriving by mail. But, I may want an extra spare and I'm thinking of the newer style keys. I know a fellow member offers the service to upgrade your old keys, but if it's possible to program the new keys directly with the GAP tool, I may want to go that route.

Has anyone programmed a 2010-2020 (thinner) key successfully with the GAP tool on their 2010-2012 L322? 2012 Range Rover Autobiography

Scotland 2012 Range Rover Westminster TDV8 Fuji White

After a few mishaps with the spare key that was in the new format, in that I've managed to crack the case badly I've had to go back to my lozenge one which does seems to take the abuse without falling apart much better, still it did last a little over a year.

Anyway, decided to test out my new orbital polisher so armed with an acrylic paint pen went over the lettering of the key several times until the detents were full of acrylic paint and left overnight to dry fully.

then used the orbital polisher with the key in a vice and polished all the metal elements till it came out gleaming bright.

Lovely finish all around although in the pictures you can see a lot of the damage the key has suffered from but instead of the metal being a dull matt finish it's now all sparkly and looking much nicer.

I can upgrade the brick 5 button key fob to the mid lozenge style or the very latest style. Fully backwards compatible if you ever want to go back.

Please see my thread here. Have done hundreds for people round the globe. Just done mine for my newly purchased L322 and my D4 has been running these for over 2 years.
