Physical or touchscreen controls - with poll

My Range Rover (2022 model with physical controls) was at my local dealer for some TLC recently and meanwhile I drove a courtesy 2025 Evoque that had all the controls for climate and audio via the touchscreen. I’d be interested to know whether you prefer physical controls for these functions or if you prefer them via a touchscreen? If I am missing an important answer to the poll please let me know and I will happily add it - thanks so much.

Whilst my car is MY21.5 L405, it has touch-screen controls so I've responded.

I really dislike the a/c, fan and recirculate touch-screen controls. I drive a mix of sealed and unsealed roads and finding the spot to press, the lack of tactile feed-back, the dark red when selected and the delay in changing colour makes them dangerous to use while driving. L405 D350 SE Carpathian Grey D5 19" rims

I'm becoming more accustomed to not having physical controls, but given the choice, I'd prefer to have a couple of dials for the climate. 2024 P550e Autobiography

Flick a switch or turn a knob or dial and you know that you’ve done it. Touch a screen and you can’t always be sure that it’s taken effect. Hideous idea in a car, especially if you’re going over a bumpy road!

After 10 Range Rovers including 2 L460 this was one of the many reasons why I now have a Bentayga.

Fortunately I kept the SDV8 L405 letters not necessarily in the right order

I chose a v low mileage 23my car over a new 24my due to the physical controls. I’m sure in the near future they’ll be going back to physical controls, touchscreens and driving just don’t go together.. Current fleet:

It’s interesting that if I used my iPhone in my car and a copper caught me, I would get a fine and points on my licence.

But if I plugged my iPhone in and used Apple Play on my car screen, that’s OK?

I have a '25 P530. Before picking the truck up I was a bit disappointed that the few remaining physical controls had been removed for 2025. Since driving it for a couple of months, I have come to prefer the controls being touch screen only.

Step one is to turn off the auto start/stop function and that is "pinned" as a quick setting and perfectly placed. Driving modes and temp/fan controls are one touch away and easy to navigate and in my opinion no more difficult to change than the physical buttons on our D90.

Most other changes are done on the wheel, where I actually do not like the haptic, relatively cheap feeling controls. Mercedes Benz (at least in 2015) has great feeling clicking buttons on the wheel of high quality.

I have just bought a 23MY D350 Autobiography, the last year they were fitted with physical controls, and this had a major influence on the buying decision.
We were lucky to find one locally of the right spec, from a main dealer with warranty, and it cost about £50k less than the new equivalent. All-in-all, very happy!
