4.4 tdv8 front crank oil seal

Hi again, following on from my previous post about my front oil seal getting blown out and the subsequent oil spill.
I replaced the seal as per the instructions 1mm underflush, took the car down the road a few times and the seal pushed out again!
I now have a new oil pump as im out of other ideas.
I have attached pictures because I can't see any good reason why the oil seal can't be pushed all the way back in the recess?
Then rtv round the outer edge?
Im replacing the pump as i suspect the pressure release valve had ceased but i really don't want to have to go in again so if anyone knows why the seal must be fitted so close to the edge please tell me otherwise im pushing that thing all the way home.

I'm aware the manual says one mil underflush and the gen workshop tool seats it to this spec. Should also be fitted dry and allowed to sit 4 hours to cure before running engine. I'm sure I read somewhere if it's fitted any deeper it blocks an oil gallery orifice. Not sure if this is true as I just fitted mine as per the wsm when rebuilding the engine and never had a problem. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.
