My 2007 VSE 3.6 had its oil changed ever 5k kilometres and the oil was like new every time it was changed. My 2011 and 2015 have had the oil sucked out so you can't see as it sucked into a 200lt drum. 2015 4.4 AB

It is so easy to accidentally put in too much oil when changing it.
If you get an overfilled message, then get him to suck out 0.5 l before it does any damage.

I change mine every 6k miles without fail. Shel helix ultra and a new filter, oil is always black. I have a special machine that sucks the oil out of the Service tube.

Was told by the dealer this is the best way, as the days of old are behind us. The sump on the L405 is not designed to be drained from below anymore as the plug is higher than the lowest point.

I was told by the master tech that a specially designed gully/channel in the sump is designed to bring all the oil to meet the bottom of the suction tube thus allowing all the crap that settles to be sucked out. Makes interim services easy. And this is the process LR designed to free up ramp space for other repair work. And that's why the dealers use vaccum pumps to take your old oil out. No ramp required

It looks like there’s a surplus of diesel on the oil due to failed regens.

As far as I know, this is the only item that determines t when the service is due, but I could be mistaken. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Seriously, well worth getting the “Kot Kit”.

My oil dilution is never more than 1% every 6 months since doing so.

It feels nice to be in control of things.  V6 Vogue - “Less is More” - less to go wrong!
