SDD won't open

Hello,

I have had SDD v165 running on my laptop, but suddenly quit. I am not sure if it conflicted with the date, or an update I couldn't successfully shut off (windows really sucks about that). I tried a hard reset of the laptop back to manufacturer spec like when I bought it and reinstalling SDD, this time v168 from Topix, with the same result. It takes forever while opening after double clicking the SDD icon from my desktop and the only window that opens after about 5 minutes is the little box that says to close SDD before closing the little window. but no SDD. both versions did the same thing. I am not very computer savvy with regard to internal computer workings, coding, reprogramming, conflicting programs and such. I can make my way around the Program while functioning pretty well. Any ideas what I can do? Maybe a patch I didn't have? Sequence of loading? I remember V165 had several things to download and a sequence to do them in, but V168 from Topix just had the one file, or so I thought...any help would be great. I have done lots of searching to no avail.

Thanks,

Josh

What version of Windows are you running?

I use SDDD V164 an it wouldn't run properly on Windows 10 at all, randomly freezing, erroring out, etc. I got another old laptop that runs Windows 7, did a clean install with it and it runs perfectly on that. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

I was told Windows 10 was the optimal system to run, but if 7 is better, I'd go for that. What about updates and such? Is it old enough now that support is gone and I won't need to worry about that?

I performed a hard reset of my laptop, downloaded a new file from OBDII365.com blog spot, followed the text instructions included and was back up running again. I did have to re-download a program to unzip the file and the drivers for the pass-through cable.
