It can be done but being a direct injection it will have to run on petrol as well as LPG at the same time, so not a great saving unless you do mega miles.... Pete

That's what I understand but it's interesting news none the less for the guys that are doing high miles.

I recently drove a 2017 L405 5.0 SC with LPG - on the route it burned 1.6 l of petrol per 1 mile - that much was spent on cooling the fuel injectors. |

1.6l of petrol per 1 mile is that a mistake? I have this exact conversion and it uses about 1l per 100miles Current stable:

Yes, that's a mistake. This engine has direct injection, and even though it runs on LPG, the petrol injectors need to be constantly cooled. Hence, the post-injection rate is 1.6 per 100 miles. |

with LPG prices in the UK now over £1 a litre, and the fact that LPG is less energy dense than petrol, which is significant when you need about 1.20 times more LPG to get the same energy output as petrol.

But that’s not comparing apples with apples - lpg has a far higher octane than e10 that you are quoting - you are looking more like £1.40 for that but also those who have an log vehicle would likely be looking to the diesel for equivalence so you are talking slightly more again.

Yea I thought so it’s 10-15% more needed with lpg so worst case 115ppl but that’s not comparing it to e10 that you mentions as that’s not as dense as e5 which costs more. You can change the filters yourself easily enough if you know what you are doing but even if not I think the last one I had was £180. Current stable: 2015 5.0 V8 S/C AB 2006 BMW M6 2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF Gone: 2002 4.4 V8 FF |

In Poland, the situation is different: 1 liter of petrol costs 1.12 pounds, while 1 liter of LPG only costs 0.53 pounds. So the difference is significant and the savings are significant. |
