Denso Starter Motor Breather Kit?

Hi guys, I fixed ('fixed') my starter motor about 18 months ago by cleaning up the contacts of the solenoid. It was doing the 'click' where the solenoid engaged but it was not making the connection properly to crank the engine.

The issue has just reoccured, expect the cold has set it off so I expect it will get worse quickly.

As it's such a pain to remove the starter, I am going to replace the unit this time, rather than overhaul the motor. Will get a Denso, but I noticed there is a breather attachment (I don't recall one on the original)

One site recommends a breather kit, part number LR021682. It's £70 (!), and from the limited images Google shows, looks like a few surgical tubes and brackets.

I have assumed this is to stop water ingress if wading. Anyone fitted one of these, and would just banging in a bit of tube cable tied high up have any issues do you think?
