Interior lights turn on after vehicle locked

Hi All
I wonder if anyone might be able to help with a peculiar problem I'm experiencing with our L322. When the car is switched off and the doors are locked all interior lights are extinguished. However after approximately 10 mins the interior lights turn on again and drain the battery. The instrument cluster is blank and I'm at a total loss. Presumably the vehicle thinks a door is open but since the display is off I can't tell which. Does anyone have an idea on what might cause this.

Many thanks

Edward

If it was a faulty door switch, the interior lights would go off again after a few minutes as an open door only leaves the interior lights on for a short time.

I'd be looking more towards the main interior lamp switch. If you sit in the car with the doors closed and switch it on, I think it will stay on permanently.

Perhaps you could start by switching off the courtesy door lamp function by pressing and holding the main interior light switch for a few seconds. At least this will discount the open door theory. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

Thanks for your help. I will give that a try. I think the front screen pops up with the landrover logo too but I will have a check and report back.

Hi JMC
Just tried your trick and the lights are now all off, plus stay off so far!!. There is no screen on or anything. Does this suggest that I have an issue with a door lock or maybe the main control module?. Either way at least the battery shouldn't flatten anymore.

Many thanks

Edward

I can't diagnose from here I'm afraid. However, if it's solved the problem in the short term, I'm happy to have helped. FWIW, I don't think it will be anything to do with the doors/locks themselves. I suspect something to do with the roof switch for the interior lamps.

That being said, if switching off the courtesy interior lamp function resolves the issue completely, then that might rule out the interior switch.

Maybe wait for someone more knowledgeable than me to come along and assist further. Wink The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile
