L405 Door handle lock switches not functioning

Hi all,

Getting on ok with the L405 since we've had it earlier in the year. Still a few little niggles.
Today's niggle being the N/S front door handle has stopped locking the car.
It did this previously but the garage fixed it and now its gone again.
Its when you touch the touch button on the front it doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas what to look for or any common things to try before I go at it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Depends which type of handle you have, either the fully moulded type or the one with the inlay trim, if the latter there was a tsb for the locking button failing, basically the wires under the trim can corrode and fail causing the lock function to cease working. You can carefully take the handle apart to access the wires and make a repair. If you have a GAP IID you can monitor the handle and it will show if the proximity sensor is working or not.

If you don't have a GAP tool, you can swap the handles around from another door (they are all the same) to see if the affected door then locks with a different handle, this will then isolate the problem to the handle. Handle is easily removed, just one torx screw and one electrical connector.

If you try and source a secondhand handle, just be sure to check the amount of pins in the electrical connector as they can had 4 or 6 depending on the vehicle spec.

Here's the TSB:-

Three of mine did that. New door lock actuators fixed them. Two replaced under warranty, one I did myself. I got a used one from eBay and replaced it in under two hours going slow. Dan. 🇨🇦 2013 L405 5.0 SCV8

Many thanks for your replies. I'll certainly look into the gap tool, think its worth getting. Have to be honest, not sure which handle is which, so I've added a picture. Could someone tell me the type if possible so I can tie it up with the relevant fix?
Thank you again for your help. I'll have a look at getting the handle off, the issue does seem to be intermittent

That's the type that I've described above as being problematic. It's referred to as no.3 in the document. I'd just use some heat and a plastic trim tool to remove the inlay trim. L405 SV Autobiography LWB SDV8, finished in Aston Martin China Grey by ETO division.

Thank you, very much appreciated. I've just ordered two spare handles to have a practice on. May have some more questions when I've opened them up. Are these coded at all or just plug and play ? Thanks again.

Can you get these off without removing the inner door card, the manual seems to suggest you do have to remove it... Cheers.. Thumbs Up Pete

Just pop out the plastic bung as per picture, undo the torx screw a couple of turns (don't screw it all the way out) and then the handle is loose, slide towards door edge and then lift out.
