I'm down on power, have a smokey rear end and have used lots of oil very quickly. I've come to the conclusion that the turbo has died.

Have I come to the right conclusion and based on £50 pounds an hour what is my likely repair bill?

Good job I'm not a mechanic. I've just taken the filter out until I can get a new one. After a couple of miles driving everything seems to have cleared up.

Will I have done any lasting damage driving with this filter blocked?

Its never good to drive with blocked filters, but im sure the damage wont be too lasting. Just make sure you check your filter every now and again
