Just had the drop links changed on mine after suffering exactly the same knocking sound from drivers side front and it sorted the issue for me.

Surely a garage should find that tho is there not a hidden bush on suspension ? I'm gonna get the jack out at the weekend hopefully it's gonna be something like that lol

Balljoints, trackrod ends, drop links, there are plenty parts that can cause a knock.

Drop links don;t always show signs of obvious wear and will take quite a bit of force when jacked up to see if there's any play. Maybe they just didn't use a long enough cheater bar!!!

Just about the cheapest bit to start changing anyway - unless you go to a Stealer that is!!

I found that the problem with mine was the compliance bushing!

I had no knock until I had the diff mod done by the stealer - they release this to do the mod.

After getting it back, the next time I hit a bump I had a knock. I looked underneath and found two things. Although they had replaced the bolt as part of the diff mod, they had not torqued it up fully, and the little torque they had put, was done with the car in the air, wheras the procedure clearly states that it must be finally torqued with the full weight on the wheels. Unfortunately, this requires a pit or similar, as it is hard to get the required torque with the weight on the wheels because of the angle and limited clearance.

You can easily see if this is the problem by looking at the bushing and where it hits (you will see a mark on the rubber) - it should hit straight in the middle of the flat face, but if torqued up with the wheels in the air, it will hit at the top (and hence knock).

Easy fix is to slack off the bolt with the weight on the wheels and suspension in highest position, and it will suddenly snap into the right (or nearly right) position (if not, a quick application of the famous LR special tool will help it Wink ). Then torque it up - 190Nm from memory!

Hope that helps

As previously suggested change the drop links, easy enough job to do, did mine as i was having exactly the same problem, would change them both as they are not to expensive.
