2006 Sat nav Upgrade.

Is it possible to update a 2006 sat nav. It just seems a bit basic/dated to me. If I buy a newer disc, does it just cover newly added roads or does it have other 'extras'.

Thanks.

it is possible to buy a 2009/2010 at a reasonable cost Wink ...it updates the firmware and gives you more up to date mapping....i believe you do loose the 'destination on the go' bit though.

You sure about that Stan? I've got a 2009/10 disk and it does destination on the go? Or is it a different system in MY2007 onwards cars? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I have a new 2010 disc in my 2006 FFRR. It updated the firmware when installed and now when the 'agree' button is touched it comes up with' Do you want to input a destination' . Loads more POI's etc but yes you do lose the 'on the move option' over about 5mph.
I think this is on the MOST unit dont know about the full fibre optic newer version. 2006 MY Autobiography. With 'toys'
Honda ST1300 Pan European

Gone
Jaguar 3.0 SE X Type
Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird

TJF by the way for anyone who knows what that means.

ALAN, the 'destination on the go' can be activated by a dealer so its sounds like yours has had this done .

indeed ALAN Rolling Eyes ...

its not such a hindrance tbh, as you can pre-enter your destination before you travel and then activate it on route using the 'previous destination' feature, or log it as a favourite..

Hi Johnte -

Did you get sorted ? - we're planning a Euro jaunt this summer, but the disc in our FFRR facelift 2006 MY appears to be the original . . . . .

Ciao Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I came to the conclusion - it's probably as good as it's going to get (for a 2006 RR) Wink

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE Supercharged Java Black

Would an updated map DVD change any of the look and feel of the sat nav or is it just newer maps that otherwise look the same?

I feel the sat nav looks a bit dated and is a real ba Censored rd to use (it even makes the BMW iDrive seem well designed by comparison) '07 Supercharged in black with drug dealer tinted windows

It changes the location of a couple of menu items, but the look and feel is unchanged - it still looks dated.

Re. updating satnav DVDs

i found these people <removed> who are offering an updated dvd for £40. Not sure if they are any good, or anybody could make a recommend? Ideally i'd like one with speed camera updates, again not sure if these will do that.

I've got (about to pick up) a 2005 with the MOST touch screen.

Regards,

Dave

PS: I've removed these links as I now belive they are not entirly legit.
