IP5 / iPad3 are going to have to be good because from what I have seen and heard Microsoft are coming back hard with the completely revised windows 8 platform in both PC and tablet/phone guises in the near future. If they've learnt the Apple lesson and managed to integrate both style and function properly, it may have one over on Apple kit for those of us who are still linked to Microsoft for work...

Waiting to see what the Mango update does for Windows phone 7 as a taster in the next few months...

I'm another convert. I have an IMac, MacBook Pro, iPhone 4. Can't see myself going back to PC's now, apart from anything I very much doubt if they'll ever catch up on the design/ quality side, Apple keep leaping ahead too fast. Also, once you've had a Mac, you sort of resent Microsoft for the countless hours you wasted on pc's before you converted!

Apple products are far from perfect, however I'd say in most cases they are just by far the best on the market. Like with Range Rover, if you want the quality, you have to pay for it! My only regret is putting Microsoft Office on my machines! It slows down the MacBook Air, and reduces battery life! 2012 SDV8 Vogue SE

I use the main components of Office for Mac 2011, but NOT Outlook. (i.e., have kept Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Needed for work compatibility. Thunderbird for mail.

Works well. Found Outlook 2011 was buggy. If you need Exchange compatibility, Apple Mail works well. Graham

Dan, have a look in the refurbished section of the apple store. Some very good prices there (admittedly for last years models) and spec for spec they represent good value for money compared to windows laptops

Mick,

I would not use anything else.

If you need email/messaging/data on the move then it cannot be beaten Thumbs Up

If all you want is to play with Apps then go for the iPhone4/5 Yawn

Cheers Stan -hadn't seen that one, but gives a great overview of the integration that can be expected, and this is only an update to Win Phone 7, which what was effectively a market tester version of the proper Win 8 platform.

I think Apple's bubble will burst in teh next few years and when it does it's going to be catastrophic. They got in first, held on to the market share as long as possible, but the competitors are really catching up now. The only thing that will save them will be if they stop being so blinkered and realise people need kit that integrates and works across the board, not just with iJunk.

Allegedly, Microsoft's Windows 8 tablets won't run Windows apps...
