Cooling fans on

Got a prob here!!

Car drives fine, then you come to traffic and the cooing fans come on,then they literally wont go off! Car can sit for 3 hours and start up and they are still on!

This happened the other day and after 10 mins of sitting on the motorway they went off and stayed off al day

anyone got any ideas?

thanks

richard

Is this the viscous coupling fan? If so, it's a common problem No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

Which fan are you talking about?

There is a fan bolted to the front of the engine - this will always turn Rolling Eyes

There are also the A/C fans, these will come on when required to cool the Condenser or if it detects the engine coolant overheating. Whilst in traffic etc. They will kick in before you notice the gauge move.

When was the last time you changed your coolant? If you've not changed it every other year then they system could be all bunged up and in need of a flush...
