MY06 HSE v MY04 Vogue

hi Gents,

I'm about to turn my back on the sports car and plump for a 4x4. From Land Rover. Not sure if I'm comfortable with this ethically, but I um....well, lets say I'm 'outgrowing' my porsche. Ahem. Rolling Eyes

I have a question and an assumption that I'd appreciate some help with :

1) on my budget of around 25k +/- maybe 10% a full fat RR - circa 2004-06 - represents better value than an RR Sport 06-08 (which I am still open to) - true or false ?

2) i currently have a couple on my radar - one 06 HSE and one 04 Vogue - similar money, but I haven't gone thru the spec sheet with a fine tooth comb. Could it be forgiveable to buy the HSE ?

3) with a purchase of this value - I'm more comfortable with a main dealer - what do you think ? any recommendations in the midlands area ?

4) My miles aren't high. Mostly short trips across town.....with the occaisional long distance jaunt (say, 4-5 per yr.). And coming from a sports car, I might tend to have a heavy right foot - so I've been looking strictly at diesel. Can anyone argue otherwise ?? I really don't care for crazy fuel bills.

Any all advice most welcome - go on, push me over the edge and get me into a Range. The missus wants a Benz SL !!

thanks very much indeed.

JJ

hi and welcome Thumbs Up hmmm where to start right personnally for that sort of money you should be looking at a 2005+ facelift vogue spec the diesel will be a td6 which is a supurbly cracking engine thats cheap to run and maintain BUT id have a drive of one first as they have a loud charectoristic diesel noise to them that may not be too your liking but does quiet down when warm a bit. also good for 30mpg on motorway Thumbs Up

As for spec there is nowt wrong with a HSE spec but id make a vogue the minimum (this will start summink ) Whistle

if youve got a heavy foot hmmm try befour you buy

if your not bothered about fuel bill go for the petrol version as might be cheaper to purchase and use the saving for fuel and might help with your heavy foot , they also sound soooo nice Thumbs Up onto no6 Range Rover

Everyone needs a hobby

You need to sit in the HSE and then the Vogue to feel the difference. The front seats are the main difference internally, the Vogue ones are SO much better with multi adjustment, particularly the upper back is a nice touch and IMO just look nicer.

The TD6 is much nicer when it's been chipped, but is a steady workhorse. Discovery 4 HSE

No no, Martin told me to stop doing that!

so....to the nitty gritty....

I have found a hse i like, right miles right money, its an 06 for 23.5 k having done 50k miles.
i'd much rather this than a high milage 04 or 05 vogue. will the MY mean better kit than an 04 vogue ? is there anything ill miss ? apart from the seats ??

CarGiant have a 2006(56) Vogue TD6 for 25999

http://www.cargiant.co.uk/Land_Rover/Range..._Rover.asp

or a 4.4 Petrol Vogue for 24999

http://www.cargiant.co.uk/Land_Rover/Range..._Rover.asp

Only catches are that they don't haggle on price at CarGiant and a test drive will consist of a quick drive down the street and through an industrial estate. With regards to the latter, I would test drive each variant somewhere else and then look at these. This will ensure that you know which one you want in terms of spec and performance.

I had my eye on a 05 Vogue SE with 55K miles which sold for 23K
