The update - bit of a disaster

Following my posts about heater woes, the car went into RCV to be diagnosed yesterday.

The verdict: a split a/c evaporator has dumped the contents of the a/c system, including the dye, onto the heater motor and lunched that as well. There's green dye everywhere under the centre of the dash, although this doesn't seem to have marked anything visible.

And the estimate? Parts & Labour: £2000.

I've only had the car three weeks.......went back to the warranty company who, unsurprisingly, swerved the issue and poked it back at the supplying dealer. It's going back to them (they won't pay for RCV to do the work, which is a shame) tomorrow and they'll put me in a loan car whilst they sort mine out.

The dealer said that they will be using an indie specialist somewhere in Essex. He said they are LR-trained ex-Lookers guys; I *think* he said they are called Landmark athough (a) I was in Germany and driving at the time he called, hence it wasn't the clearest conversation, and (b) I can't find any trace of a company called that in Essex.

Watch this space, I guess. He knows I want it done properly; I guess I'm not in a position to reject the car until the dealer has been given the opportunity to rectify.

RCV also said that the "Reduced Engine Performance" warning is coming up due to the breather on the offside of the engine being split, so I'm expecting that to be changed as well. £44 for the replacement.

Let's hope I still like it when I eventually get it back.

Dont forget to ask for an invoice to show what work was done and where as this will affect the future value of the vehicle being able to prove the work has been done and by whom as well especially if there is a future warranty claim against it and they try to say you have DIY'd...

Sorry for the bad news cappo Sad
