Meant to say, what is it with cameras & jet interior. Mine also comes out as grey !
You can see in the photo above, it looks like I have one grey seat & one jet

@ Rolo , possibly thats where the confusion lies as it was a Vogue that i test drove , and thats when i found the materials used for inside the seats were not as firm or supportive , nothing to do with the quality of the leather used or interior finishing …

I have always said the 4.4 TDV8 is a stunning and powerful car ...  ====================================

When I first sat in a Vogue SE with the air cooled seats I thought they felt overly firm compared to my Vogue TD6 seats at the time which seemed softer. I guess it was the materials required to bolster the leather for the air cooling vents etc. I'm now totally used to them of course so it would be interesting to see if I felt the same.

How are you finding the move?

I'm still toying with a switch from my 4.2SC and I keep vacillating between a 5.0SC and a 4.4 TDV8. The TDV8 sensible choice (and I hate all the time spent in petrol forecourts with a petrol). And yet... DERV is such foul stuff.

In the short space of time i have had it i have to admit i am starting to embrace the TDV8 , years ago i had the TD6 version of the FFRR and although at the time thought it to be a good car and workhouse .

Then i bought the SC and it was like Wow !!!! …. and i thought this will do for me , then a couple of months back i too was like yourself do i go for the TDV8 or up to the 5.0 Litre SC , I looked for months at 5.0 litre SC's and for a while started using my sensible head ( which is few and far between ) .

I thought 5.0 litres are nice but with mostly only a difference of 2mpg and the prices that 5.0 Litres were still asking for and spec wise ( probably upset 5.0 SC drivers now as well as 4.4 TDV8's earlier ) .

I also looked at 4.4 TDV8's , maybe if i had test drove the Vogue SE at the time and not the Vogue more than likely that would be sitting out on my driveway ..

So when i seen this 3.6 TDV8 and the spec sheet i thought , this i have to see , and on first seeing it as they say the rest is history .

As you say Diesel can be foul stuff especially if the previous person at the pump has had a spill or doesn't care whether his hands have diesel on them or not who then in turn gets it all over the pump handle and as my luck goes there are no paper towels handy or plastic gloves available …

But as of the last couple of days as i say i am starting to warm to the TDV8 , granted when at junctions the SC would just take off when the accelerator was floored whereas for a millisecond or so the reaction from the TDV8 is not instantaneous.

Plus i have not checked yet , maybe it's my tyre pressures but i find the TDV8 more bouncier and floatier even on bends compared to the SC ,

Will i miss the instant take off from the SC … Possibly
Will i miss spending too much time at petrol stations …. No

Where i went to drop off my SC and pick up the TDV8 ……. same route ..

Petrol costs driving down approx £82
Diesel costs driving back up approx £66 …. i know it is only about £16 but i suppose over a period of a year that could be some saving …. as before i never really took into consideration fuel prices , i just filled it up and F d off ...

One thing i will say i have noticed that when i drive the TDV8 , I kind of drive in a more sedate kind of fashion , other wise known as an old fart ...  ====================================

ahh, you is getting old mick..

the s/c does have stiffer suspension than the norm so thats why your new tdv8 feels bouncier.. ... - .- -.

When I last drove the 4.2 SC in the FFRR I thought the front end felt lighter, diesels have a tendency to be heavier units and therefore the suspension ratings feel different on the front end IMHO. Discovery 4 HSE

That's interesting. When I tried a vogue, I thought the seats were harder and just stiffer. I also felt like I would slide around the seat if I cornered too fast. Maybe they'd polished the leather too much ??
It was the SE semi-aniline leather that really sold it to me and the seats hugged a bit more and a good shape for my butt !
I suppose as leather was once alive, it will vary to a degree on feel. I suppose you could argue that the vogue leather might outlast the SE if it's firmer now, it'll take plenty of fat arses before it gets too soft

I never tried a SC to feel the difference, so will be interesting to see if you miss the accelleration. I wouldn't have thought overall performance will leave you bored though, I was well impressed with the 3.6 I drove.
