Blank Screen

Had the dreaded blank screen whilst out yesterday.
Having done a search found a really good posting by 802965118, exactly the same symptoms.
Found a broken pin in the blue socket on the tv tuner presumably due to corrosion.
Bye-passed the tv tuner by plugging the blue plug directly into sat nav and everything now works as before excluding the tv which is no use round here as the tv is digital.
Managed to sit and wedge the sat nav with sponge as the cable for the blue plug on the tv cable isn't long enough to reach sat nav in normal position.
Short of buying a digital tv tuner and putting the sat nav back in its cradle I wondered if anybody knew of a way of permanently bye-passing the tv tuner so that the sat nav can go back in it's cradle.
I have no need for tv in the car.
It would be possible to lenghten the tv blue plug cable by soldering in pieces of cable but I'm not so sure I want to do that.
Anybody got a better idea. Thanks.

i refuse to pay £300/£400 for a digital tv tuner...for that kind of money you can buy decent size home tv...
taking the tuner out is a good idea as i believe there must be places in the world that still use analogue and this could be a floggable item..

i wouldnt attempt any cable cutting etc ,sounds to risky...i'm sure there is an extension cable available somewhere or someone a bit savvy could make one up.... ... - .- -.
