Mystery Button Above Pedals

Whilst hoovering the floor mat on the drivers side today i noticed a button on the plastic panel above, it reminds me of a Ford Escort window switch, however of course i pressed it and all the dash and main screen came to life, the steering wheel lowered just like when the key is in position two. When i let the switch go everything goes off again and the wheel returns to the up position. It does not matter which way it is pressed it does exactly the same. I have done a search but came up with nothing and i can't find reference to it in the owners guide either. Does anyone know what it is for as i can't see any point to it at all.

Car Jack button.

If car jacked, press this secret button. The vehicle will continue to run for a further 5 miles (presumably to lull the car-jacker into a false sense of security) then all the vehicle systems will shut down, the suspension will drop to the bump stops, the radio will switch to soothing classical music, the doors will deadlock and the info-system will call the police and report the vehicles position via GPS.

Accidental pressing of the switch can only be cancelled by visiting the dealer (presuming they are located within 5 miles), or removing the main ECU and taking it into your nearest Landrover Service Centre.
