Yesterday I noticed that my car was ever so slightly 'lazy' when cranking. Very difficult to describe, but it just didn't have the same urgency as normal.

I'm not planning to replace any friction parts unless someone comes along to tell me these are shot... I'm replacing a carrier on one side and a caliper on the other. Both rear.

Might sound daft, but have you checked the seatbelt isn't blocking the door? (That's my favourite trick!)

Second daft suggestion - have you made sure the latch is 'open'?
