If its of any help the rear shocks on 3 of my CVD equipped RRs were all easy to 'bounce test' with the engine off.

The fronts however were rock solid.

Okay so I now do have an update.

First update relates to steering.

I've replaced the n/s front driveshaft/halfshaft as the outer cv boot was split and dirt ingress knackered the joint.

Nope no progress, I've been focused on other non car projects lately.

Nothing has changed in the interim, still absolutely horrible to drive.

Yes I read that with great interest in your thread earlier David.

The car came with 255/50/20 Davanti rubbish on it (nearly new though)

It now has 255/55/20 Goodyears.

Yes Knares I agree it might he in the hydraulics after all.

I've replaced most of the pipework and double checked fitment as I go.

I've found something else whilst looking into shock absorber top mount bearings.

Both shocks on this car are missing the threaded section to mount the 'mass damper'

Took everything apart again yesterday, the n/s front strut is aftermarket and the top mount bearing is very gritty and round when turned but does turn freely.

Could this be binding with the weight ...
