MC, think the best check for the battery is when the car is "Fully" asleep and then check the Voltage,
if you have tow electrics the socket gives very easy way of checking.

I treat my door rubber seals to some lube 
Gummi pflege and the likes it does seem to help the seals from sticking to the door frames.
not sure it would help the lock freezing.
