When you do the oil cooler it is worth doing the serpentine belts when the front is off. Change the jockey wheel at the same time.

Get travel insurance for health cover. If you have time get GHIC card from Govt website (get one anyway for next trip  ) . It gives basic cover but doesn’t include repatriation.

Probably way off base. but "running on" was a sign of timing being over advanced. Could it possibly be an intermittent error with the crank position sensor causing a timing shift?
