There is a difference depending on the model year. Up to 2009 it was down for Continent and up for UK (not sure about 2010).
It was then changed to down for UK and up for Continent.

Hi
I have a 2011 vehicle had same issue - worked it out with the aid of the beam setter at work.
Setting for driving abroad ,
O/S click lever up.
N/S click lever down

It would be great to know how this resolved. Did the guy end up breaking the car for parts. Or was it fixed.

| The other way to rotate the shaft into a good position is to remove the case off the motor (3 screws) and rotate the armature by hand. |
