Could it be slight degradation / split in one of the hoses from intercooler to inlet manifold? They're well known for failing (on 3.6 TDV8, anyway - can't see why it would be any different on a 4.4). ...

Thanks, both, for you experiences. That's helpful to know. The bulbs that seem to work well are about 3x the price of the cheaper ones, so will be interested to hear how you get on Scott.
