Wash mine twice week , snow foam , dried, liquid ceramic coating and tyre dressing. Dry weeks a soft cloth is used everyday between washes to remove dust.

It ridiculous how they rust like that. Mine was the same. I can't remember the last car I owned that had rust!

Quite a few mechanics do take these covers off (all types of engine) as they are simply a cosmetic/sound deadening piece -
