You could try the mic loom plugged direct into the mic too, see what that does.

It's only the speaker wires done that way, I was under the impression very little power travelled through them?

The system uses up to 5v dc for the speaker connections, maybe more for the sub outpu ...

^^ No offence mate, twist and tape is in no way good enough for the power that will be going through them wires.

You really need to solder and heat shrink, yes it takes a little longer but will be ...
