Side Repeater Indicator Fitment

Does anyone know what is supposed to actually hold the little round indicator in the front wing ?

Since I've had the car, the passenger side one moved about in the wing, up down / left right, but now its at the point where you can just take the unit out with the end of your finger.

I'm sure it's going to drop out as I'm going up the road.

The handbook says that you put it in and slide towards the right........but there is nothing for it to lock into.

I've a feeling I'm a rubber seal, or some little clip missing.

Any help gratefully received !!

Mark,
They are loose, I swapped mine for some Powerful ones and they were also loose and I have since swapped back on instructions from SWMBO as she liked the white ones better.

They shouldn't however move around too much, try a bit of foam tape (double sided with one side still covered should do it) on the back of the lamp. I don't think they will actually fall off though because the bayonet fitting for the bulb, on mine anyway, is pretty tight but you would still look a bit of an Censored if it was hanging out by the wire. There should be a plastic spring clip on yours, they brake off often so dont hold it in place... Renewal or double sided tape repair is really the only way unfortunately... I would either replace it or stick it in with some double sided tape before it falls out on the motorway and wrecks your paintwork flailing around!

Craig Thumbs Up

I've just replaced mine with genuine Land Rover parts bought on fleabay, they were around £12 for the pair & fit perfectly.

Thanks all.

So am I right in thinking that the actual front wing has nothing around the hole, and that all the necessary fastening clips and stuff are on the indicator unit........

In which case, it may be easier to just get a new one, from somewhere.

All the best

I fitted the clear ones on mine and as long as the plastic clip is "working properly" things are fine. I agree to not let them flail around at all. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Nothing around the hole, but it has two cutouts either side to accomodate what should be a locating lug on one side of the light holder and a spring clip in the other - both part of the moulding.

Like Craig says the clip could break off, in which case double sided tape or a new repeater. Geoff

Excellent. Many thanks.

I have no spring clip.

The one on the other side is pretty solid, as I initially tried to remove that one to see, and then thought it was best left alone !

I shall source a replacement unit.

Cheers

Well, the Land Rover dealer in Chesterfield have a single indicator unit available for £34.83.

"We can discount some of that, so it'll be £29.61".

So I have just bought 2 used ones off the bay of e for £5.50 delivered.

Sorted........

Thanks again.
