hi has any one take off a mirror with chromatic glass, main plug goes into the switch unit but i cant find where the flat 4 pin plug goes from the chromatic glass , the chromatic plug from the mirror is the same as the flat ibus plug...all so after putting back the trim the message door open keeps popping up but never see the switch for that.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

Dave
I'm sure that the plugs are behing the door card, round the window switch. Been a while since I had mine off. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

Which mirror Dave? Driver or pass?

If its drivers please be carefull to double check your plugs as the height button and chromatic plugs are the same size and shape... If ya plug them the wrong way round you'll make your mirror glasses go blue and screw up your eas...

Well i have had 2 new mirrors fitted curtsy of the insurance company, and it started when i noticed the access button was not working, they took the driver door card of and i pointed out that they have plugged the chromatic
wire from the mirror into the switch panel, i got them to change it with the correct wire but then there was no other plugs this side of the door foil for the chromatic, when they put it back to gather the access switch was working but would not lower as it now says door open on the dash.so it thinks the door is open.. V8 facelift Range Rover Autobiography 22" wheels.

There is three plugs in a plastic holder mounted vertically tweeter speaker wire, anti trap for window and the chromatic/puddle lamp plug so it must be around there somewhere... But, if they plugged the wrong plug in you may have problems unfortunately!

Had the same thing happen to a customers car who had the drivers door painted and the bodyshop they used plugged the two plugs in the wrong way around and it Censored both mirror glasses (they turned blue)

well they are aware they put the wrong plug in the door switch module, they put the chromatic plug instead of the ibus plug, funny i thought they would different plugs to stop something like that happening, funny i did notice two other plugs not connected. i am hoping one of the other is the door switch.

did you fit the newer style mirrors? if so did you have any trouble with getting all the systems to work e.g. dimming, folding etc....

Seems like JLR/BMW are not familiar with the original Murphy's law : If a part can be mounted two ways, a correct and incorrect way, then there will always be someone installing the part incorrectly at some point in time.

On an aircraft that can be quite problematic and even on an car it can be cause serious problems sometimes. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
