Diesel Leak..........

Well, the smell I've been ignoring for a few months, presuming as I overfilled the power steering and had to syphon some out, and it had run down the block causing a smell..........

...turns out to be a diesel leak from one of the pipes under the engine cover.

It was not what I'd call exactly a diesel smell, which is why I wasn't sure, but then decided if it'd been the power steering fluid, it would have burnt off by now...........

So its my own fault for leaving it, which is a bit not like me, but its booked in my local Land Rover specialist on Thursday morning (2 days time) and they recon that either the pipes will need "tightening up" or that they have started to split, and will be replaced.

Has anyone had to change theirs ?

The garage will also have a quick look at my squeaky rear suspension, and see which bush is causing the issue.

Cheers

Mine had a diesel leak when I bought it, a small pipe from the fuel filter to the high pressure pump next to the oil filter. Someone had bodged it with the wrong size jubilee clip

Just got back from the garage, and they said that the high pressure fuel pump was a bit damp. They have cleaned it all, and checked the pipes and retightened the connections, and asked me to see how it goes over the next week or so.

They also fitted an original equipment fuel filter, and checked which bushes were squeaking on the rear suspension..........

Will look at RAVE now and see where we are at.....

Cheers
