G'day bluegreygreen; no I mean that the folding only happens every other time:
Arrive at Tesco (Coles for you perhaps?), exit car, lock with one press, mirrors fold inwards.
Return to car, press unlock once, mirrors unfold outwards.
Get home, exit car, lock with one press, mirrors stay exactly where they are.
And repeat. Well, not always Tesco, but you get the idea.

I asked GAP and they commented "it's a JLR software bug and it's weird!"

I received my BT IID Tool yesterday. The service from Pat and team is exceptional, thanks for the help getting it up and running very quickly.

When I plugged it in - there was a plethora of error codes - I suspect this is from the error codes not having been cleared previously? Once cleared I am left with two error codes.

B1311-87 (2F) which is the clock. and B12A9-62 which is the steering column tilt sensor B.

The clock makes sense as when I tried to change the time the digital clock changed OK, but the analogue clock remained where it was. The analogue clock does work - it just shows a different time. (any ideas on how to fix this?)

What could the steering column tilt sensor B be? (it all works OK).

pull the fuse out, weight for the right time and plug fuse beck in.

I have read a few posts on here of people resolving clock problems by pulling the fuse for a while or doing a full battery reset (switch off - wait 5 minutes - disconnect battery cables and then short the cables together. Might be worth a shot.

So far as the B12A9-62 tilt sensor error code goes, you say that the steering column motors work ok but I would be interested to know if the memory function works too.

The reason I ask is that my motors work ok but the memory does not. I get the same B12A9-62 as you. I queried this with Patrick @ GAP and he sent the following reply:

"The fault indicates a fault with the position sensor B of the steering column. I assume this prevents the memory function to work due to the system not being able to know the actual column position, thus its target... Manual movement is also normal in this instance. From LR literature:


B12A9-62 Steering Column Tilt Sensor B - Signal compare failure
Steering column tilt sensor signal compare failure
Harness/connector issue
Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the steering tilt sensor, connector and circuits


Start with the wires... attached. Pay attention to the clock spring."


When the weather improves I will remove the steering column shroud and check all the connectors etc. I know most people seem to think this feature is pretty useless but I do like everything working properly!

As I say though, it would be interesting to know if the steering column memory works on yours.

Mark, I have the same sensor issue and the memory does not work, although the manual movement works fine. Sounds like a sensor replacement of some sort required? Chris

Yes - it does sound like the hall sensor and sadly, I have a feeling that sensor is built into the motor. I have asked Dan @ Duckworths to price a new motor for me, but I think that will be £400+ which is too steep for me to just get the memory function to work - I can after all still move the column via the switch.

In the meantime, I came across this post from RRUK who had a very similar problem:

In short, he bought a second hand motor but that displayed the same problem. Happily, in the process of unplugging/plugging back in the plugs, it burst back into life and worked fine.

Encouraged by this and with an unexpected free hour this afternoon, I thought I would remove the steering column cowl, disconnect any connectors I could see and give them a blast with some switch/contact cleaner. Sadly, I only got as far as removing the 3 Torx screws on the underside of the cowl and then down came the rain

Hopefully I will get the chance to look at this again in the next couple of days and if I am successful, I will take some pics and do a little write up.

Can I see historic plots of battery and alternator values using the gap tool? (Its new to me) I suspect my battery is on the way out but would like to see what the voltages were when I had the HDC, suspension and transmission errors yesterday while driving, they all cleared with a re start and I’ve had no issues since

Can the IID tool show live values for the suspension height sensors and whether they are working correctly?

Quick question - where do I look in the live values to see the quantity of soot lurking in the DPF? I've seen a pic on the DPF thread showing it in grams - but I can't find that anywhere!

If you scroll down live values then select engine.
You can then select up to eight live values.

I'm probably overlooking the obvious somewhere! Can you recall the name of the value to see the soot quantity?

Non continuous soot mass.

Mine is reading 8.0g in the picture.
Any reading below 10-12 is good.
