Slightly off topic, but if you are using the Castrol (I did) - There's 31% off the price at Eurocarparts at the moment ..

Halfords diesel oil fully synthetic 5w 40........

Meets the API standard things set out in my owners manual.........

Its more smooth and quiet than with the oil that was in it when I bought it....

■ Oil viscosity 5W/40
■ ACEA A3 B4
■ API SM CF
■ Meets the requirements of Mercedes 229.3, BMW LL-98, VW 502.00/505.00 & Renault RN0700/710

Used it twice now and meets the min specs and seems happy on it Smile

I do try and change diesel oil between 6-10k though and never ever let it get near what lr/any manufacturer thinks is acceptable of 20k+ as its pure nasty stuff then ;( FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

But if you include the delivery charge for 10 litres, the Castrol only works out about £2.50 more Wink

20 lts from Watsons Lubricants (premium synthetic 5 w 30) = £50.80. I cannot understand why people keep getting their oils from Hellfrauds at extorsionate prices ! Confused

Just check the handbook and see which one would suit you best for your use Smile

My engine often gets warmed up to a good temp sitting in traffic often to work and back so the 5w40 was my choice Smile best protection in warmer climes Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I take on board the Halfrauds comment.

I've been using it for nearly 6 years now, and none of the cars used any oil during my tenure, so am a little bit hesitant to try something different.

If Castrol Edge was that price for 5 litres instead of 4, I'd probably use that.

May decide to have an open mind..........keeping an eye on views here....... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Mobil 1 here, 5 litres from Costco is 30 quid. 4 litres of Edge is the same. Both conform to the same specs making it a no-brainer... Very Happy 2003 Vogue TD6/1992 Classic 300TDi/2x 1991 Golf GTI/1966 Volkswagen Kombi/2x 1968 Volkswagen Kombi/Probably something I've forgotten...

I'm swinging towards Mobil 1 for my next change now.

Need to either join Costco or purchase off the internet then.........

Do they only do the 0w 40 ? 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I think it's the 5w40 Turbo Diseasel stuff I got. There's enough left over for topping up between changes if need be. 2003 Vogue TD6/1992 Classic 300TDi/2x 1991 Golf GTI/1966 Volkswagen Kombi/2x 1968 Volkswagen Kombi/Probably something I've forgotten...
