If my TV mag is to be believed, Wheeler Dealers with the Terra Clean process is on Discovery at 8pm tonight, or 9pm on the +1.

I was quite impressed when I saw it.

Its been discussed on here a few times, but if you don't know, its a process to de carbon the engine and clean fuel lines etc by running our engine on neat fuel.........you get that good a burn, it burns off all the deposits etc from over the years.....

In the "olden days" you'd have to strip your engine down to do it.

Not sure as to whether to have it on my "to do" list or not.........

I remember seeing the Terra Clean on there and it seemed to make quite a difference with immissions once the process was complete.

I still prefer the "olden days" where you know it's clean because you had it apart and cleaned it.  

My Td6 has done 118k miles now, and I just wonder whether it'd clear out all the crud...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Aye, get your car really hot after a nice spirited drive, find a vac hose, pop it off and dunk it in a litre bottle filled with water, get the revs up and watch whatever's behind your exhaust turn wet and very, very black. Do it a few times over. Makes a fair difference and is free.  2003 Vogue TD6/1992 Classic 300TDi/2x 1991 Golf GTI/1966 Volkswagen Kombi/2x 1968 Volkswagen Kombi/Probably something I've forgotten...

Hmmm, not sure that's a good idea with modern alloy blocks, catalytic converters, O2 sensors and the wizardry around knock sensors we get these days. Sounds like a one way ticket to the garage.
I recall how sensitive P38 blocks were to thermal shock. How to write off an engine in one easy lesson.

+1 that sounds like a crazy suggestion to me... After all it only takes a teaspoon full of water to hydraulic a diesel engine
