I think you also get this message if the antifreeze mixture is too weak. Did you top up with water or water / antifreeze mixed? |

I took some water out and added some anti freeze, started it up and message gone . Drove 3 miles and it came back on! So drainec a but more and topped up again when it was left overnight. Started it up and message gone. Done 100 mile and uts not come back on so fingers crossed thats it sortef!

Yes, I believe it checks the specific gravity of the coolant. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

yep what mike said. the sensor is in the bottom of the tank in one of the 4 chambers. It works on a 50/50mix if there is to much water you get the check coolant bong and the same for if you put to much coolant in. You can buy a syringe type thing from halfords that uses coluored balls to help get your mix right. [img]http://www.fuelly.com/driver/rob2529/range-rover[img/]

As Mike and Rob have said, the mixture is checked in much the same way as an external antifreeze tester through a float that is calibrated to check the specific gravity. This is to avoid someone performing a repair like Winslo, forgetting about it, and ending up with a popped block next winter.
