Thanks - looks a really easy job. Where's the best place to get a new FSR?

You say you can get all the fan speeds - so that means it's not the resistor.

You really need to get it checked out properly. See if there are any fault codes stored anywhere. It sounds like blend motors have stopped working - which could be because the HEVAC system has faulted and shutdown.

He's in Scotland though - it will still be calling for max heat to thaw the permafrost up there.
Very Happy

Aye, got someone looking at it next week, hopefully. Gonna choose to ignore the other comment. 2003 Vogue TD6/1992 Classic 300TDi/2x 1991 Golf GTI/1966 Volkswagen Kombi/2x 1968 Volkswagen Kombi/Probably something I've forgotten...

I think you've no option - unless you can read the fault codes yourself you are working in the dark. Even if you fix whatever is broken, it still might not work until it's been reset. Range Rovers are like that.

Seems it's probably not an aircon issue at all. Plenty refrigerant in both sides - yeah, checked with a gauge - and checking the temperatures from the vents with my hand-held IR temp gauge sees to real variation in temperature from 16 to whatever the max is on the dial... So it's a control issue which is a bit of a Censored . So, first things first, are there any simple checks I can perform? I can get all the fan speeds and the umpteen buttons to control the airflow work, so what's likely to be wrong?

Does it only go down to 16 degrees? After mine was re-gassed it was measured at the vents with a thermometer and goes down to 4.4 degrees 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

16 degrees is the coldest you can select on the dial - that's to set the internal temp of the car to 16 - obviously the air from the vents will be colder than this, but how cold will depend a little on ambient temperature.

Yeah I know but misteralz says that IS the temp at the vents

Yeah, the temperature from the vents remained reasonably static wherever the dials were rotated to - be that 16 or 28 degrees, the temperature coming out of the vents remained around 23 degrees.
