Suspension compressor - Exhaust Silencer

Hello,
I seem to remember (quite a while ago) reading a comprehensive post/instructions concerning the exhaust silencer (on the suspension compressor) - the conical thingy.
I think may members changed it for a 'newer' version.
I have tried all manner of searches but to no avail - Is it possible anyone could point me in the right direction?.
Many thanks in advance
Rgds

Dear DavidP, there is NO silencer at the suspension compressor (I mean L322 from 2002 to 2006), it is a close system with a dryer patrone and a ventil at the end, perhaps sometimes the 3 rubber for the vibration are defect, then it becomes a little bit louder at the metal box under the fifth wheel..., if you have any questions around the air suspension, ask me...

Uli,
The part is at the back left of the unit. It is brass in colour and about 2cms long conical in shape. I had it in my hand as it 'came off' while i was in the UK - having returned to Belgium i seem to have missed placed it.
It was listed on a TSB identified by SDD to be replaced.
Maybe it is not called silencer possibly Exhaust Valve (looks like many brass/silvery balls).

edit - its the Sintered Bronze filter

Well, haven't replaced the 'sintered bronze filter' yet [mechanic friend due over end of Aug] but I will say no more "suspension faults" indicated and no noise heard inside the beast.
However, whilst unloading the saddles just now [left suspension at normal height] i heard a loud phufffff, just like a lorry's air brakes. Again though no faults!.

Was there a horse nearby? Perhaps less Molly chop in the feed Wink

Seriously though mine does that sometimes when parked with engine off when I am emptying the boot etc- no suspension faults either.

Seems normal behaviour .

Thumbs Up
