Has anyone blown a Rear Diff or a rear drive shaft on a V8

This morning just a few miles after leaving home ; had a funny feeling something was coming loose in the rear RH , and suddenly a Big Bang , and then no more giddy feeling in the back .
As I was in a tunnel , had to drive til the exit , another mile & half and stopped the RR .

Had a look at the back as i thought i might have exploded somehting as the bang was really loud .

The suspension bag looked ok , so am wondering if its the rear drive shaft or the rear differential ???

had to run too take a bus to the office , so don't know more yet .

RR is parked in parking lot will try to see more tonight . Jaybear

Cam tech

Do you mean handbrake could get stuck on one wheel only ?????

Stan

can you pls point out which part you are mentionning ??? maybe by circling it on the rave PDF ???

Anyway , i must say that no trans fail safe message or other message appeared on dash borad .
Inactive suspension was there but already a few days before , and did not have time to clear it ..... thought maybe again a battery issue .

Also the floor under the car is DRY ... no fluids leeks whatsoever .

i will arrange for an appointment with LR , and most probably have the RR transported there by end of week .

In the meantime , as i just came back from holiday , am still catching up on my job .... and little time available ...
Had to boroow the Mrs car ...... Jaybear

jaybear, there are brake shoes [not pads] inside the rear brake disc/drums that dont get a lot of attention when the range is serviced so it could be them..

or you could have just driven over something maybe.. ... - .- -.
