Venture cam

Hi,just purchased a used venture cam off fleabay and it's seems the battery is shot ?.when you press the button nothing happens and the oval doesn't light up.tried to charge it but when docked nothing again ?,I have put a test bulb across the 2prongs and when you switch ignition on it lights up so I take it powers there.Camera doesn't light up when docked or register on touchscreen.
Anything else I can try or is it a return job.
Many thanks

there are lots of posts about this if you search.

the rechargeable batteries in venturecam only last so long.
Many of us have cracked it open and replaced the AAA batteries without any problems.

you just need tagged batteries and soldering skills. L322 4.4 Vogue MY03 - Her name is Bulletproof .... you already know she's not Smile

Hi, yes I have replaced batteries in a cam, bit of a fiddle but easy enough. You know that if the battery is totally flat it will take some time to charge it enough to register cam on screen!
I would suggest deleting any other cams already paired on screen, plug your one in and go for a drive. If it is going to work it will need 5-10 mins to sort itself out. You will see the messages on the screen if it is going to work.
Good luck. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Could anyone please tell me where the suction mount is normally stored?

I have Venture Cam but cannot for the life of me find the suction mount! Sad

Cheers

Think there are also a few versions of Venturecam, so you may also have to get the correct frequency aswell. Also on a thread on this forum somewhere Steve

i didn't realise that there were different frequencies for venture cam!! this may explain why i have cams that power up, register on the screen but don't produce a picture.
is there any way of finding out what frequency works in what cars? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Hi Stu, this was the topic I was thinking about...
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic2781.h...+frequency

2 frequencies, 434Mhz and 2400Mhz (2.4Ghz).
Checked mine (2006 VSE but 2007 model year) and camera has 0682 on back with what looks like a number 1 in a circle after it. Checked on-board diagnostics and doesn't specify the frequency in the vehicle specification / software displays so not sure how you know which version you have, unless one version superceeded the other, in which case someone on this forum ( like Daveo ) may know when the cameras moved to say 2.4Ghz and so may then be able to establish which version you need. Steve

yeah another one here with a green and black paper weight in the glove box!

I was going to ask the question of how to split the unit to get at the batteries without damaging it, do you think you will be putting that into the how to guide or could you just quickly tell us here /...also a link for your source for the batteries maybe?

cheers
