Renewal of Card driving licence

Do you have to renew the card part of your driving licence every 10 years ...

I think it's £20 now?
I tried to do mine recently. You can go online and use your electronically stored passport photo if it's not over 5 yrs old. Mine was 5 yrs and 8 months and the jobsworths rejected it. So I've got to go and get a regular photo taken. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I went to a Post Office to do mine.
They took the photo and processed the application electronically.
Had the new driving licence back 3 days later.
Never knew the DVLA had it in them.

Just checked mine... There is nothing about an expiry date or renewal date. It says it is valid until my 70th birthday. Previously..

Every 10 years £20 as above (another rip off) but if you have recently renewed any other formal ID like a passport they can use that photo save doing it again. Thats what I just did Mine was a blue one! Smile

Photo license is renewed every 10 years. If you don't have a photo licence then hang onto the one you have for as long as possible as they last until the age of 70

Your actual driving license doesn't expire, just the photo part. There will be a date on it (unless of course you got it made within 10 years of becoming 70.....) Land Rover Addict

Item 4b on the pink card gives the expiry date.
If you have the old paper licence it's 70.

S.h.i.t. I see it now.. Nov 2013... I genuinely never knew it was a ten year thing. I upgraded to photo licence because I got hassle abroad with a car hire company saying I had to have a new type licence. Wife still has old type. Previously..
