how to work residual heat function

as per title.
i have pressed the MAX button with the engine off and key out but it seems to do nothing.
does the outside temp have to be below a certain threshold?
does the key have to be in the keylock?
with the engine on, pressing the max button does what it is meant to do..A/C full blast...
thanks 2011 4.4 TdV8 Nara Bronze

Residual heat is one of those items with... personality.

I've used it on occasion but it doesn't always work. And I have yet to figure out what parameters it would like to have to switch on.

United States 2005 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Chawton White

I used it once, for a couple minutes.
Then I got all worried about draining the battery so I turned it off.

I just replaced the battery last week.
Turns out, the previous owner had installed an undersized battery; I guess to save a little money.

Looking forward to winter, I'm going to use the programmed heat mode to warm her up a bit before I get in..

New battery, what the hell. Jim

i think i have worked it out..
you have to press the max button within a second or two after removing the key..
worked all this week..
yesterday while the wife was waiting to pick the kids up and using this function for 15 minutes....the car battery went dead!!!!!
jump started..
checked the amp output via 735 funtion..that was all right...took it to halfords for a drop test..that was all right..
just a rubish design i guess.....
for such a great motor why could they not just add another second battery like Bentley do? 2011 4.4 TdV8 Nara Bronze

Many of us have asked the same question many times, there's so much stuff in the L322 that needs the battery that things like residual heat and FBH just kill off an already struggling unit. Probably just when you need it! Discovery 4 HSE

I've got a back up battery hooked up in the rear where the removable tow bar normally goes. Seems to do the trick Thumbs Up

Hi Jim!
D'you mean 'Park Heat' - together on the display with timed ventilation? You can activate this with the IIDTool and it will show on the display, but as you do not have a diesel you won't have an FBH. They were an option with the petrol engined cars in Europe. I still don't understand why they never caught on in the US. Great stuff.

I could send you one... Cost is about a grand for the kit and 2 days of install w/o prior experience.
