Indy says I need new dash.. Ecu looking fried.

So as mentioned in a previous post I have intermittent starting. Believed it to be ignition relay problem. Garage is now saying that car is starting fine but there are errors saying immobiliser is gonner like someone tampered with it. He says Ecu is not responding to anything and went on to potentially blame my IID tool he saying i need a new speedo now costing 1,000.

I nearly died when he said that, the speedo wasn't showing anything out of the ordinary when I left it at the garage. Does any of this make sense to u guys..? Could the ignition problem be causing all these issues and one that's fixed all the other errors will go away?

He still doing more tests tho so I'm hoping he is wrong. He has good knowledge of these cars so I did trust his diagnosis.

Sure I could but if warranty covers ill get new one. But I just can't imagine needing a new speedo. Could a snookered speedo stop the car starting and stop the Ecu responding to diagnostic software?

Well Indy says he tried to flash (the car that is!) and nothing happened he blaming the IID but maybe it could be all the jump starts I have been getting the last few days by breakdown.

The last time you tried to connect with you iid, did it connect ok? If it did, it was working when you left it... If you know what I mean. Previously..

i very much doubt if the IIDTool has caused these faults, its probably just a dodgy battery... ... - .- -.

Yeh the IID worked fine the day I left it at the garage, I think he blowing everything out of proportion at the moment. I'm just sick of it all tbh, I have spent thousands on the car and as much as I love it, I always feel let down by it, like I take it personal after everything I have done for it it treats me like this..! Laughing god I sound like a typical woman.. Shocked

What ill do is if by Monday afternoon he still not 100% ill drive it (if it starts) to a Main dealer and they might be more familiar with the problem..

I doubt the IID tool very much corrupted your ECU.It would be a battery on and off for me and bring it to the stealers as a second opinion on it and go from there before buying anything Thumbs Up

Hi Lema,
I just saw this thread (please, please, if you have a problem you need help with, contact us directly via mail: support@our website.com - that would be GAP-Diagnostic.com. Not written together because of spambots).

What is the status as of today?

I just got off the phone with Patrick and we both agree - IPC sounds a bit unlikely. I assume you had no relevant fault codes - otherwise you'd have posted them? Intermittent starting problems can have very simple causes and are not unheard of in non computerized cars as well (I did not have a chance to look for your other thread (must leave the office 5 minutes ago Shocked ) but I am assuming everything normal, turn key, nothing happens?).
Have all the 'regular' items been checked thoroughly? Ground to motor, battery terminal connections, positive terminal at starter solenoid, starter solenoid, etc, etc.

Please let us know and we will do our best to help you through this.

Regards,

He says so far labour is 200-300 euros! I am irate, I said it was the ignition from day one. And how the hell do I need 2 new keys..? Is it possible for 2 keys to stop working, to me they prob just need re programming..

I have to get the hubbie on cause maybe be will listen to a man.. oh and the keys will be bout 4-5 working days??
