Reversing Light Replacement

Just a quick note for those with cracked lenses or discoloured/aged lenses you can get brand new full units that take 2 minutes to fit from Dan @ Duckworths:

£26inc vat, XFD000043

They really make the back end look a lot newer on older cars Thumbs Up

H6 halogen and pretty useless with it.
To date I haven't found any led fittings to replace them that would work.

Don't think the CANbus plays any part in the light bulbs...? Graham

Sure does, without canbus ready bulbs, or fitting resistors, the car throws an error on start up to advise bulb is broken! .

Yes, you need canbus leds they display on the message screen otherwise.
The problem with led bulbs in the reverse light fittings is that they are generally too long and simply don't fit.

Possible this might be another LED strip job. I reckon the lens will come away from the backing in much the same way as the reflectors. Then drill small hole at bottom of backing piece for wires, stick two short White LED strips either side of the bulb housing, wire up to original wires, glue lens back on. Just a matter of whether this is bright enough? .
