Numpty Question about the dash display

Ive only had the FFRR for almost 3 years and in all that time I have not managed to use the display function on the dash, ie stopwatch, Timer etc, I can scroll thru and get time, radio station etc to show but when I scroll to stopwatch how do I intiate it, I did find that by holding the button in on the selector lever it brings up a display on the nav screen that enables me to spec what functions I want shown on the digi display. My car is in the bodyshop at the mo, so can't test. Not sure if its any different running through a Mk4 Nav......

...anyway, I don't need a stopwatch to know my Td6 does 0 to 60 in a shade under 5 seconds Rolling with laughter

I'm sure I read in the owners manual that the stopwatch function (altough appearing on the dash) is not available on some models.

Errr...

Have you looked in the handbook? Audio, tv and navigation supplement.
It describes how to set the stopwatch function in there.

The stopwatch is only via the centre screen, it doesn't appear in the dash binnacle.

If you press and hold the indicator stalk button the centre screen shows all the options for you to select to flick through with the stalk, via the dash (Av speed, MPG1,2 etc etc)

To use the stopwatch you select it from the screen navigation. There is no memory function, once the ignitions goes off, it is wiped. I rarely use it. Discovery 4 HSE

I am going to go and see if mine does that, pretty sure my TD6 didn't either though. Maybe it was a throw-over from the old BMW systems - I had it in my 528 and M5. Discovery 4 HSE

If I hold the button in that you use to scroll the display then all the options come up on the nav screen, you tick each you want and save and thats what comes up when you scroll through the binnacle display, I have time, date, radio station or cd,stopwatch, timer1,timer2,range,av speed. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!
