Air susp inactive after going through flood !!

Recently driven through a flood a few times in the last few days- raised the eas to off road each time (about 1ft deep water) shortly after I got an air susp inactive message, the light has gone out on the EAS controller and it appears locked in normal height.initially it drove ok but after a day or so it is now driving horribly, all over the place with clunks on right turns , also I'm not sure but it may be 'drooping' on the OSF . Any ideas ? My local Indy is still closed
P.S I can't hear any hissing . (But I am a bit mutton Rolling Eyes ) 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Might be worth trying disconnecting the battery -ve terminal for 20minutes, reconnect and then steering wheel lock to lock with the engine running and see what happens.
You might be lucky.

Forgot to put that in the first post, have tried that but no luck I'm afraid. Sad cheers for suggestion though! 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Had this on mine. Went into a suspension limp mode where the compressor stops but the pressure regulator still works so basically if there is a weak point in your system or you drive over rough roads causing it to try and correct the suspension by letting some air out, it will end up dropping like a fart. Mine did this and on the bump stops it was near impossible to drive at anything but a crawl as every stone in the road would cause it jump or jut Sad

You could do with someone local with a OBD scanner to see what codes are up and then a tool to clear the faults like a hawkeye.

Fingers crossed the compressor didn't suck any air in Sad FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Oh great ! (Groan) so what you're saying is the OSF strut may be leaking slightly but it's probably not the cause, just noticeable now as the compressor isn't 'topping it up' due to the (hopefully unrelated) error? 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Probably!! the compressor could have died a death and the slow airbag leak can now be noticed.

So at worst its a new compressor and ideally 2 front bags.

at best its just a fault clearing and maybe a fuse gone Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Has your RR had LTB00077 done ? If not it could be this. I had this happen (its corrosion in the Compressor muffler). I only found the fault after using the ride height change to go through a deep puddle. Maybe worth getting it checked.

Andy

Sorry Andy I take it that's some kind of recall or similar? How would I find out if mines had it done? It's not on any of the invoices I got when I bought the car. 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Might be worth checking the connections at the height sensors to see if they are dry. thats the first place i'd look. especially since it happened after driving through water. could even be the height sensors themselves have let water in through worn seals. '04 td6 se

Check for water in the spare wheel well, that's where the compressor is located.

+1 MRD.

also, there is a rubber bung in the floor at the front of the spare wheel bay. Check you have one in cos going through deep water could have forced water up this hole and into your compressor, thus causing the fault. you can take the casing off the compressor to see if it is wet or dry.

Right, had the spare wheel out and it's bone dry (which is a rarity I believe! ), the rubber bung is still in place. Think I may have to go to the Indy and get him to scan it. I've had a look under each wheel, all of the height sensors appear intact although the wiring plugs look really badly protected from the elements - poor design? 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black

Is there no-one nearby with a hawkeye or anything to clear it for you? once its cleared and you give it some time the pump should come back to life Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I agree with wats39, I had the same issue on my old 2003 Range Rover when going through deep water. After a couple of days the height sensor dried out and normal service was resumed Thumbs Up I never found out if it was a poorly sealed sensor or for that matter which one but as the problem always went away I never bothered to worry too much especially as it locked out at normal ride height so could still be driven ok Rolling Eyes

Thought I would add the result of this - airbag had split after being raised and had dumped all of the air out, result was a new strut was required, has been fitted and all is ok and back to normal now. 2003 Vogue 4.4 V8 Java Black
