I`ve a 55 plate Vogue Se. I`m thinking (excuse my ignorance as I`ve only had it a couple of weeks)it`s the facelift model as it`s production date is Sept 05 and it`s got touchscreen and the deep bumper.

The gearbox on tiptronic goes up to 5 but yet the owners manual says it`s a 6 speed??

As its obviously facelift it must have the JAG AJV8 engine and therefore the 6-Speed ZF 6HP26 box. I had an 05 V8 which was facelift with the Jag/6-speed combo.

Open the bonnet and see if its a JAG or BMW unit as I guess the owner could have done a front end change on the pre-facelift 05 Model which did have the touch screen but old BMW engine & 5-speed gearbox...

2002 - 2004 V8 = ZF 5HP24

Trust me the TD6 had the GM 5L40-E not a ZF box. It is noted for really being 100% up to the job of hauling the heavy Range Rover about even with the underpowered TD6 driving it.

Re "Jag sourced" I agree bad terminology. The 3.6 L V8 is built at Dagenham Engine Plant by Ford of Europe. It is a twin-turbocharged Diesel V8 producing 272 PS (268 hp/200 kW) and 640 N·m (472 ft·lbf).

Due to the common use of "Jag engined" for "facelift" or newer Range Rovers I have incorrectly used this term.

I agree that having a TDV8, as I do, is a unique experience and I believe it to be one of the best all round engines available. A 4.4l version is planned very soon.

Surelly they would produce a higher capacity TDV8.
With the new TDv6, the performance is, so I hear, really good. Meaning is touching tdv8 territory...at least in the sport model.

Nowadays the SC is too far from the tdv8, so its logical that they should push it a bit further to close the gap. It feels like its happening the same during the changes in the 2006 MY. Lazy td6 and brutal SC lineup.

For 2007, they came up with a real world performance diesel on par with a SC. Just take out the 0-60, and the other number are very close, or at least to compensate the SC's huge fuel bill.

Now for the new TDv8, it sounds like the same lineup, 2010 ''slower diesel'' and brutal SC. So for 2011 expect a repetition....Maybe that's why they removed brembos from 2010's. At least they can market them again on 2011 with the greater performance of the new tdv8.

Thought they would come up with a 4.0.
4.4 sounds very juicy....maybe 360 hp, and 800-900 torques.....????

The new engine will be MASSIVE in every respect and will kick the SC in the butt at least in Torque terms and probably usable power as well!!!

Yep, that will be the RAVE burned to CD. I generally get upset at people so blatantly scamming the unknowing by offering a CD of material available on the internet for free - but for 1.99... I wouldn't even open and close my cd tray twice.

The RAVE only covers the BMW engined models, but there is still quite a bit of useful info, even for later cars. I'm waiting for someone to download all the info from LR GTR and sell that as a DVD. I'd pay 29.95 for that

The problem is that the LTBs etc on the GTR site are constantly being updated so unless you want to take out a lengthy subscription at great cost (to the average owner) its not worth it.

I don't have a subscription, I just download the headers as this gives me a clue as to whether I stand a chance with a warranty claim and also gives me something to point the dealer at. Discovery 4 HSE

I saw some posts by you with stuff from the GTR website, so I thought you were subscribed.

And yes, manufacturers, as a general rule, are always updating the docs. There are always some unforseen probs even with older models that are only detected later.

Nevertheless, for a 3-4 year old car, most of the info should have been compiled by now, so 29.95 would seem fine for a 2007 MY. At least I would buy it.
