From what I understand the "GM" 5 speed TDV6 box is a bit underrated for the job and can cause issues when the miles pile up. The V8 got the ZF 6-speed with the 2006 Model Year availalable on 05 Reg facelift cars and up...

Prices from about 19k - £22k depending on mileage.

All TDV8 have the ZF 6-speed also.

the td6, at least the jag models, also had a ZF box.

Tdv8- ZF6-HP26
Td6 - ZF5-HP25

My TD6 had done 91,000 miles and the 5 speed was fine, never had Any issues and loved driving it on long trips, even ten hours straight to Provence. It's a reliable and sturdy engine and box combination. Discovery 4 HSE

Jag TD6?

The TD6 is only BMW, the Jag Burner is the TDV6 but this was never available in the FFRR...

The FFRR had the Jag TDV8 from 2007+

Jag models, not necessarilly jag engines....
Jag models are the fiber optic ones, the ones with the touch screen, venture cam, etc.. even though they had the BMW diesel engine from the 530d, etc...

Even today in the TDV8 some parts are BMW. Don't know about more recent cars but early tdv8's still have a BMW throttle.

PS-''GAZ'' look at some of my other posts. I know which engine and model is which, in each MY...... Whistle

I am not questioning you knowledge however it was my understanding that the BMW sourced TD6 engine continued to be mated to the GM 5L40-E transmission until it was replaced by the Jaguar sourced TDV8.

2002 - 2004 V8 = ZF 5HP24
2005 - V8 = ZF 5HP24 or ZF 6HP26 (depending on facelift or not)
2006 - 2009 V8 = ZF 6HP26

2002 - 2006 TD6 = GM 5L40-E

2007 - 2010 TDV8 = ZF 6HP26

Not sure about the ZF 5HP25 you quoted? ZF 5 & 6 speed Trannys definitely include:

5-speed auto
5HP18 — longitudinal 1990–1999
5HP19 — longitudinal 1996–
5HP24 — longitudinal 1996–
5HP30 — longitudinal 1992–2003

6-speed auto
6HP19 — longitudinal smaller version of 6HP26
6HP21 — longitudinal 2nd generation of 6HP19 2007–
6HP26 — longitudinal 2000–
6HP26A - longitudinal 2003- Bentley, A8, Phaeton etc.
6HP28 — longitudinal 2nd generation of 6HP26 2007–
6HP32 — longitudinal bigger version of 6HP26
6HP34 — longitudinal 2nd generation of 6HP32

Can you give me more information about the ZF 5HP25 as I am genuinely interested Question

PS: Is it your understanding that the GM 5L40-E was replaced by a "ZF 5HP25" in the facelift TD6 model?

FWIW there were face lift models but before the new interior that had Jag 4.4 V8's that had the 6 speed "box" but I'm pretty sure the TD6 stuck with the 5 speed till the end. 2008 MY Supercharged

got to agree there, if it had been a Classic I would know the g/b and M/Y spec in detail - but with the new shapes since the P38 I have just lost interest - soul-less vehicles Wink Very Happy
