Rear suspension bushes

Hi to all.

I know this subject has been covered many times with regards to the replacement of the bushes and I have used the search.

However, I cannot find the method used for checking the bushes with regards to, up and down play and side wear.

I have, to my knowledge no issue with them but I am checking the car over, now that we have some better weather ready for the summer and the pending MOT in early May.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I hope it's not a matter of waiting until they start to squeak or knock when you drive over bumps. '88 RR Classic, '90 Classic, '93 Classic, '02 Discovery TD5, '55 Discovery 3, '01 P38 4.6, '06 L322 Vogue TD6, 2012 L322 Vogue TDV8

its not so much up and down movement but back and forth where you get the movement, put a pry bar between the bush and the arm and lever it will show any worn bushes. Thumbs Up

If you have a helper get them to push the car back and forth whilst you're underneath, handbrake on and in park, you'll soon see any play in the bushes.

Thanks for the link 47p2.

Next question is that normal? The RR looks almost new, no road dirt visable. So is the side play there from new.

Therefore is piersie right in saying wait for the squeak.

Slightly confused owner. '88 RR Classic, '90 Classic, '93 Classic, '02 Discovery TD5, '55 Discovery 3, '01 P38 4.6, '06 L322 Vogue TD6, 2012 L322 Vogue TDV8

The car lives in Colorado so mostly dry, won't go rusty like in UK, hence why suspension in such good nick (visually!). .

The guy's American - so I'm guessing an older vehicle living in a dry State ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

no that's not normal, there should be no play in the bushes.
