TDV8 winches

I am hoping someone can give some help here.

I am looking to get a TDV8 in the near future, but I want a winch on it. LR states their winch bracket is not for a TDV8, does anybody know why exactly that is, and if so what is the solution?

Has anyone fitted a winch to their TDV8 yet? Some picture or links to kits/solutions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Mike

So the kit itself fits, but the issue is axle weight?

If so, the weight issue can soon be overcome - and fitting a kit makes life a little easier than fabricating one!

Hi,

I think the best solution is to buy a portable winch that fits on the tow ball, just plugs in the tow bar plug.
The good point is that you can take it with you when you sell the car.
In my small offroading experience, I think towing from the back will take you out of where you are stuck 80% of the time. If it's for leisure, just go around the obstacle.

if you like the look, just install a fake one.

IIRC the frames do fit, and just require a slight mod due to a slightly different crossbar or something but nothing major and as for going over the weight limit, depends on how heavy your fitted winch is but most tend to go for warn, though hydraulic is also possible as well Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

A FAKE winch?! How very dare you! Wink

Portable ones are ok, but I'd rather a front mount permanent one too. I'll likely fit a rear one also but that should be very easy...

A hydraulic one would be nice, but are off the shelf pumps available for the tdv8 or would I need to make something work?

It would work off the power steering pump IIRC and not sure how easy it is to access that on the TDV8 but basically it gets plumbed into the circuit on the outlet of it. OTher than that uprate the battery to the standard 110ah one most for on here now and stick a nice AGM or such like in the boot to help provide some juice when needed but fuse it to 100amp to keep it safe Smile

PS i have a tray and bits if needed just no winch Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
