Air compressor/ rumbling noise

Hi,

This morning, whilst sitting in the back of the car & with my wife was driving, I could hear what sounded like a compressor/ generator type rumbling noise coming from the direction of the rear offside/ boot area.. my wife had set off at slow speed with the suspension access mode on and had a dash warning 'slow down or vehicle will raise' .

Is it normal to hear this noise on the car (the last time I heard this was on my wife's Q7, about 10 minutes before the compressor went bang and exploded resulting in a £2.5k repair bill)?

Car due in at main dealer on Monday and is under warranty but...

[Apols, meant to put this on Tech Section]

10/10 for making the wife drive and setting in the back Laughing

Yes, it's the compressor which is under the floor of the boot in the spare wheel. It will rumble now and again which is normal, especially if you make use of the access mode. You'll normally get "air susp inactive" message on the dash before the compressor fails.

PS: You should fill in your car info on your profile Thumbs Up

That was fixed under warranty.. Am pretty confident the Audi 4x4 would be at least neck and neck with Land Rovers in any high cost to maintain and repair race (in fact, the Q7 - nice car it was - was very expensive to maintain/ £4500 spent on servicing/ maint in the last 12 months of ownership).
