its been a while since my last post probably cos 'bob' has been running well and i've not been on many journeys..

anyway , one of my recent trips was a relaxing drive to wellesbourne market on a saturday...nothing to report except for a speed camera/anpr van in a layby...drove by in my normal 'old git' speed and thought nothing of it..

tuesday morning and the post person delivers a letter from the Gloucestershire police..opened letter and they were requesting license details of the driver on saturday at 'moreton in the marsh' ....

why? cos my reg number had illegally spaced letters/numbers....so a fine of £100 was due..or was it???

right at the end of the info sheet sent with the fine was a bit that informed me that if i change the plate to a legal one, send pics to them via email, they 'might' consider revoking the fine...

so i did and they did...relief ..

if i put my '5TAN' plate back on i risk the authoritys not being so lenient the second time so i've decide to go legal... Shocked

when i googled this conspiracy it appears that from september 2021 number plates with illegal letter/number spacing are going to be targetted more and more...even raised lettering on plates will be banned [bs145e]

my new-old plates,

With the weather today, TAN seems quite apt.... Rolling with laughter

A lucky escape, it's great, they want you to have the correct spacing so an ANPR camera can read it when you commit an offence but you get fined when an ANPR does read it and it's wrong...!! Pete

what annoys me is they read my reg ok cos they sent the paperwork to the correct person..

never had problems at eurotunnel or carparks either...

i cant seem to find the reason why there is a space before the last letters.. ... - .- -.

Yet another joined up thinking excercise.....

Wrong spacing.....ergo anpr can’t read it..... but it can......

So there is no basis for the enforcement in you case (except obvs it’s illegal, but really where is the harm there), however when I look at some plates where they put in black screw caps to change a couple of 1’s into a U or a yellow cap to change an O into a C you can see their argument. Personally I just got a £250 plate of DVLA and didn’t faff about with it, my old man was lucky, he managed to get his initials and a single digit for a bargain price a few years back. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

So I can be expecting a tug by plod at some point with my registration then Stan. Though I have had it for the last 4 years like that, passed many a plod and not been tugged.
Personally I think they only did you because they didn't catch many speeders that day. They are usually parked up several times a week up and down the A419.

Stan, Barmybrummie... Gloucestershire is the first constabulary to get this tech... Im guessing (if not done already?) the technology will soon be rolled out across the UK...

Oh & Stan, I've had two letters already! for 2 seperate plates not 2 for one plate... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I’ve had two letters so far...

One letter for one car and another letter for a second car we own... NOT two letters for the same plate Stan...

Meaning, they are hot on plates around this area! Soon to spread far and wide! So, expect a letter if you have a “dodgy” plate fitted... Thumbs Up
